Segmentation of the Scaphoid Bone in Ultrasound Images

چکیده

Abstract For the percutaneous fixation of scaphoid fractures, navigated approaches have been proposed to facilitate screw placement. Based on ultrasound imaging, navigation can be carried out in a cost-effective and fast manner, furthermore avoiding harmful radiation. this purpose, efficient architecture for automated segmentation bone volume images is needed. Methods: 2D scaphoid, two architectures are taken into account: nnUNet Deeplabv3+. These trained evaluated newly created dataset consisting 67 annotated in-vivo (4576 slice images). Results: In terms Dice coefficient, achieves 0.67 compared 0.57 distance metrics, shows an average symmetric surface error 0.66mm, while Deeplabv3+ 0.55mm. Conclusion: Fast accurate volumes feasible. Both show competitive results.

Segmentation of Microscopic Bone Images

Characteristics of microscopic bone cross section images carry essential clues for defining the important features in the bone cross section such as harvesian canals, osteons, osteon fragments, lamellar bone, bony trabeculae, myxoid matrix and artifact for different age groups and also for age related developments & diseases. The traditional approaches of bone microscopic image analysis rely pr...

Automated Breast Lesion Segmentation in Ultrasound Images

The main objective of this project is to segment different breast ultrasound images to find out lesion area by discarding the low contrast regions as well as the inherent speckle noise. The proposed method consists of three stages (removing noise, segmentation, classification) in order to extract the correct lesion. We used normalized cuts approach to segment ultrasound images into regions of i...

Shape-driven Segmentation of Intravascular Ultrasound Images

Segmentation of arterial wall boundaries from intravascular images is an important problem for many applications in study of plaque characteristics, mechanical properties of the arterial wall, its 3D reconstruction, and its measurements such as lumen size, lumen radius, and wall radius. We present a shape-driven approach to segmentation of the arterial wall from intravascular ultrasound images ...

Statistical region-based segmentation of ultrasound images.

Segmentation of ultrasound images is a challenging problem due to speckle, which corrupts the image and can result in weak or missing image boundaries, poor signal to noise ratio and diminished contrast resolution. Speckle is a random interference pattern that is characterized by an asymmetric distribution as well as significant spatial correlation. These attributes of speckle are challenging t...

Machine Learning Based Bone Segmentation in Ultrasound

Ultrasound (US) guidance is of increasing interest for minimally invasive procedures in orthopedics due to its safety and cost benefits. However, bone segmentation from US images remains a challenge due to the low signal to noise ratio and artifacts that hamper US images. We propose to learn the appearance of bone-soft tissue interfaces from annotated training data, and present results with two...
